My Dogs: Lexi

Pedigree name: Adorable, Quick and Black Julia

DOB: 28.06.2012

Lexi was my second Border Collie. At the time, I was eager for a high-energy, driven dog—and Lexi didn’t disappoint. At home, she’s the sweetest, calmest, and friendliest companion. On walks, she’s never the least bit wild. But there are two things that instantly turn her into a barking, excited maniac, as if she’s completely possessed: water and agility.

When it comes to water—whether it’s a swimming pool, a creek, or the seaside—Lexi has to jump in, swim, and, of course, bark! And when it comes to agility, her transformation is just as striking.

It’s fascinating how quickly such a calm, sweet dog can shift into overdrive. I wanted a driven, high-energy dog, and that’s exactly what I got! Looking back, I only wish I’d known as much about teaching impulse control when I started training her as I do now.

Unfortunately, her intensity, paired with her genetics, led to a series of toe injuries that cut her agility career short. But Lexi didn’t stop there—she went on to test her talents as a movie star, starring in a commercial where she rode a scooter! How cool is that?

Lexi also had a litter of seven puppies, and I kept one of them—my beloved Pan. Unlike Lexi, her entire litter has gone on to enjoy long and successful sports careers.
