It’s already been two months since little Lion joined our pack! I really need to update this page more regularly… but being myself, I tend to fill my days with a thousands of activities and responsibilities, so sometimes the days are just too short. Still, better late than never …
It was love at first sight. Every time I chose a puppy from a litter, I tried to be rational—but I always ended up going back to my very first choice. This time, I didn’t overthink it. I simply went with the one I fell for on day one.
The breeder did an amazing job raising the puppies, and I truly believe the combination of parents is something special. Lion is a son of my Tiger and Tequila and was bred under Nangamai kennel. Tequila (Ki, to friends) comes from lines I really like, and she complements Tiger beautifully. Lion is the spitting image of his father, and I just hope I won’t have too much trouble telling them apart when he grows up!

Lion (his name is pronounced a bit differently, more like the city of Lyon) is an incredibly easy puppy. He’s very clever, has a natural off-switch, and fits perfectly into our pack. He respects boundaries (most of the time—haha), and even uncle Pan, who usually hates puppies, tolerates him. Sometimes they even sleep together! Tiger adored him from the very first day, and the two of them play constantly—I could watch them for hours.
I also made a cute video of his first few days with us:
He’s an old soul—it often feels like having an adult dog in a puppy’s body. He hasn’t had a single accident in the house; instead, he goes to the door leading to the backyard and barks to be let out. In training, he learns incredibly fast—sometimes it feels like he already knows everything. His focus is amazing for such a young puppy; he can work on tricks even while other dogs are running agility nearby.
I’ve been filming everything we do, as there’s a new project on the way—Lion’s puppy diary! It should be online very soon.

When choosing his name, I considered moving away from the wild cat theme, but nothing really suited him—so Lion it is: Nangamai On King Spirit. And honestly, I can only blame myself, because this puppy definitely knows how to roar! Especially when he wants something or when things aren’t going exactly his way… which usually means I’m not preparing meals fast enough. Because not only does he roar like a lion—he’s also constantly hungry like a wild beast. When it comes to cuddling, he’s like a little kitten—he sleeps a lot, especially in our laps. He has already trained us to believe he belongs in our bed rather than in his crate next to it. We already love him endlessly!
